An Extra Level of Protection for Your Checking Account
Having a transaction returned due to non-sufficient funds can be expensive and embarrassing. That's why Christian Community Credit Union offers Courtesy Pay. It provides an extra level of protection against account reconciliation errors and unanticipated cash flow emergencies on your Checking Account.

What is Courtesy Pay?
Courtesy Pay provides a layer of overdraft limit for qualifying members. It is an extra layer of protection against returned items. It addresses items presented for payment that exceed your available funds and remaining unused overdraft line of credit. It allows the Credit Union to consider payment of overdrafts on your Checking Account that would otherwise have to be returned.
You do not have to sign up for Courtesy Pay. We automatically review your account to determine if the non-sufficient item will be paid. However, if you would like the Courtesy Pay coverage to apply to your ATM and everyday debit transactions, you’ll need to opt-in to specifically authorize these transactions.*

How does Courtesy Pay work?
The Credit Union will honor overdrafts up to your Courtesy Pay limit on your account as long as you maintain your Checking Account in "good standing" which is defined as follows:
• Making regular deposits to your account
• Bringing your account to a positive balance at least once every 30 days for a minimum period of 24 hours
• Not in default on any loan or other obligation to Christian Community Credit Union
• Not subject to any legal or administrative order or levy

What does Courtesy Pay cost?
There is a $27 fee for each transaction the Credit Union pays through the Courtesy Pay program (up to five items per day for a maximum daily fee of $135). Please refer to the Schedule of Fees brochure. The schedule is also available online, as well as by contacting the Credit Union.

How soon can I use Courtesy Pay?

Courtesy Pay is available to members with Checking Accounts who have an established membership over 60 days and are in good standing. Courtesy Pay is also available to Business, Ministry and Corporate Checking Accounts who have an established membership over 30 days and are in good standing.

What type of transactions does Courtesy Pay cover?

Christian Community Credit Union pays the following types of transactions through the Courtesy Pay program:
• ATM withdrawals*
• Visa debit card everyday purchases*
• Visa debit card recurring bill payments
• Checks written
• Electronic debits (ACH)
• Christian Community Credit Union teller window withdrawals or transfers

Does Courtesy Pay cover all of my Checking accounts?
Yes. Each of your Checking Accounts can have Courtesy Pay up to the applicable limit. Courtesy pay does not cover checks drawn on Money Market Accounts.
*Reg E Opt-In Requirement: Members will need to opt-in (agree) to authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions. Otherwise, these transactions will be declined if there's no money in the Checking Account. Courtesy Pay will not apply to these transactions. How do I know when I use the overdraft limit and what if I go beyond my Courtesy Pay limit?

A Courtesy Pay overdraft notice is mailed to you. You can also view your Checking Account activity via Online Banking. Overdrafts above and beyond your established Courtesy Pay limit may result in items being returned to the payee. The standard non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee of $27 per item with a daily maximum of $135 will be charged to your account. Transactions may not be processed in the order in which they occurred, and the order in which transaction are received and processed may impact the total amount of fees incurred. Refer to Schedule of Fees brochure.
We will also provide a periodic statement with a Disclosure regarding overdraft fees.
• Fees charged for overdraft services for the month and year-to-date.
• Fees charged for returning unpaid items for the month and year-to-date.

What if I don’t want to have Courtesy Pay on my Checking Account?
If you'd like to "opt out” of the Courtesy Pay program, you may do so by contacting the Credit Union:

Please keep in mind that once this service is removed and an item is presented for payment without sufficient funds in your account, the item will be returned to the payee and our standard NSF fee (which is the same amount as our Courtesy Pay fee) will be charged per item.
Christian Community Credit Union encourages you to manage your finances responsibly. Courtesy Pay is a privilege for the purpose of saving our members from additional merchant fees or other problems that may result if funds aren't available at the time of withdrawal.
An insufficient balance could result in several ways such as:
(1) the payment of checks, electronic funds transfers, POS, Visa Check Card ATM or other withdrawal requests; (2) payments authorized by you; (3) the return of unpaid items deposited by you; (4) the assessment of services charges; or (5) the deposit of items which according to the Credit Union's Funds Availability Policy, are treated as not yet available or finally paid. We're not obligated to pay any item presented for payment if your account doesn't contain sufficient funds. However, if you maintain your account in good standing (defined as making regular deposits and bringing your account to a positive balance at least once every 30 days) and there are no legal orders outstanding, we may approve your reasonable overdrafts as non-contractual courtesy. You may opt-out of the privilege at any time, but you're responsible for any overdrawn balances at the time of opting-out. Normally, we won't approve an overdraft for you in excess of the predetermined overdraft limit assigned to your account type. So as not to exceed your limit, please note that the amount of the overdraft plus the Credit Union's standard non-sufficient funds fee per item will be deducted from the overdraft limit (up to five items per day). We may refuse to pay an overdraft for you at any time, even though we may have previously paid overdrafts for you. You'll be notified by mail of any non-sufficient fund items that have been returned as unpaid. However, we have no obligation to notify you before we pay or return any item. The amount of any overdraft plus our non-sufficient funds handling fee(s) that you owe us shall be due and payable upon demand. If there's an overdraft paid by us on an account with more than (1) owner on the signature card, each owner and agent, if applicable, drawing/presenting the item creating the overdraft, shall be jointly and severally liable for such overdraft plus our non-sufficient funds handling fee(s).
The Courtesy Pay limit is determined by your current account relationship with the Credit Union. If your account is overdrawn in excess of 30 days, we must remove Courtesy Pay from your account.
Courtesy Pay shouldn't be viewed as an encouragement to overdraw your account. As always, we encourage you to manage your finances responsibly. In the event you'd like to have this service removed from your account, you can do so by contacting Christian Community Credit Union by phone, in person, by fax, mail or email. Please keep in mind that the NSF fee will be assessed to your account whether or not the item is paid.
You should note that your Courtesy Pay limit won't be reflected in your balance provided at the ATM or through Online Banking or Call-24.
LIMITATIONS: Courtesy Pay is a non-contractual courtesy. Christian Community Credit Union reserves the right to limit participation to one account per household and to discontinue this service without prior notice.
