In response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy, Christian Community Credit Union donated $10,000 for relief efforts through American Baptist Churches USA’s "One Great Hour of Sharing” offering. The amount will go towards immediate disaster relief and long-term reconstruction in the U.S. and in the Caribbean.

"We are saddened by the loss of lives and property resulting from the superstorm. Our prayers go to the families and churches who were greatly affected by it,” said John Walling, President/CEO of Christian Community Credit Union. "Through our partnership with American Baptist Churches USA, we are able to support the work of local responders who provide help, hope, and comfort to the hurricane victims.”

In addition to the Credit Union’s donation, Christian Community Credit Union members can now donate their reward points earned on their credit and debit cards towards Hurricane Sandy relief. Through the Points for Missions project, every 10,000 reward points that members donate will generate a $70 donation to the "One Great Hour of Sharing” offering.

Christian Community Credit Union’s unique "Cards that Give to Missions” credit and debit card program donates a portion of its interchange income (the amount merchants pay to card issuers). To date, the Credit Union has given over $3 million dollars to national and international ministry projects, disaster relief efforts, church planting, college and seminary scholarships, and other faith-based projects.

With assets over $550 million, Christian Community Credit Union serves over 29,000 members nationwide and has served as a financial partner of Christian churches, ministries, and their members for over 55 years. For more information, call 800.347.CCCU (2228) or visit myCCCU.com.

"One Great Hour of Sharing” is administered by American Baptist Churches USA’s World Relief Committee who facilitates emergency relief, disaster rehabilitation, refugee work, and development assistance by establishing policy guidelines and overseeing distribution of the annual "One Great Hour of Sharing” offering.
