Christian Community Credit Union
Celebrates 50 Years of Service

Christian Community Credit Union celebrated its Golden Anniversary on March 24, 2007 at Pacific Palms Conference Resort in the City of Industry, CA. The 50th Annual Meeting celebration reflected on five decades of growth and expansion and highlighted the major milestones in the Credit Union's history. John T. Walling, President/CEO of Christian Community Credit Union, honored Charles T. Hughes Jr., Chairman of the Board, for his 40 years of service to the Credit Union. “His vision, dedication and friendship are just incredible. The Board and Staff greatly appreciate Chuck for his service over the years,” stated John. In addition, John celebrated 35 years with the Credit Union in June 2007.

Another annual meeting highlight was honoring two founding Board Members, Dr. Earl Riley and Lloyd Wagner, who were presented with a commemorative clock for their dedication and vision in founding the Credit Union.

The Credit Union traces its origin back to 1957 when a handful of American Baptist ministers formed the American Baptist Ministers Credit Union in Southern California. Several years later, it became American Baptist Credit Union. In 2001, the Credit Union changed its name to Christian Community Credit Union to reflect the expanding field of membership and the Credit Union's vision to serve the larger Christian community. Through the years, the Credit Union's membership has grown to serve ministries, churches and their members nationwide and internationally.

The celebration was capped with inspirational music from the Biola University Women's Chorus. Choir Director Julie Ramsey was pleasantly surprised when John T. Walling presented her with a $2,000 donation towards their scholarship fund.

With assets over $400 million, the Credit Union has grown to over 29,000 members nationwide and in over 100 countries.

Retirement Myths and Realities

Your picture of retirement may be simple: you work until the age of 65, collect your gold watch and spend your remaining years playing golf, traveling the world or spoiling your grandchildren. But with pension plans changing and seniors living longer, reality may be very different.

Myth: Social Security will take care of all my needs.
Reality: Most retirees currently get about 40% of their income from Social Security. And that figure is apt to decrease in the future.

Myth: I won't need much to live on.
Reality: Experts advise that you will need 60 to 80% of your pre-retirement income. If you plan to travel or you incur unexpected medical expenses, you may need even more.

Myth: Once I retire, I'll never work again.
Reality: Most baby boomers plan to continue working,
at least part-time. In addition to reaping financial benefits, they will benefit from the social interaction and cognitive challenges.

Myth: I'm too young to worry about retirement.
Reality: You're never too young to plan for the future.
In fact, the sooner you start, the better.

An Individual Retirement Account (IRA) at Christian Community Credit Union is a smart way to secure your financial future. Call 800.347.CCCU today and we will be happy to review your options and help you achieve the retirement of your dreams.

Shop Online and Give to Missions and Ministries

Community Plus, an online shopping mall, will rebate a percentage of your purchase back to Christian Community Credit Union's donation program to support Christian missions and ministry projects.

At Community Plus, you can access all your favorite online department stores, travel and vacation, electronics and more. You'll continue to pay the same prices you pay when shopping directly at the merchant site, but your online purchase earns an average rebate of 4-5% which will go towards missions and ministry projects.

Give even more by using your Christian Community Credit Union “Card that Gives to Missions” credit card. Together, we can reach our donation goal of $230,000 each year.
