Spring 2009
Financial Update
Your Money is Safe, Sound and Invested in a God-Honoring Way
Bank failures, disappointment in the stock market, declining real estate values, and the recession has everyone checking on the safety and soundness of their institution. In 2008, your Christian Community Credit Union performed much better than most credit unions and far better than most banks.
Stable and Strong
While many other financial institutions experienced negative earnings, Christian Community Credit Union’s net income for 2008 was $3.2 million, an all-time record. That represented a Return on Average Assets (ROA) of .71%. The Credit Union’s deposit and loan rates remain very competitive. As a result of the competitive rates, deposits in the Credit Union grew $16 million (4.24%) in 2008. As of December 31, 2008, our net equity ratio was 10.1% of assets. The Credit Union remains “Well Capitalized!”

Need a Loan?
We Have Money Available
|
|
If you have tried to buy a car or a home lately, you may have felt the impact of the recent “credit crisis.” But don’t be discouraged. Turn to us instead. We have stayed clear of sub-prime mortgages and other risky loans, so our loan portfolio is stable and healthy. We have funds available to help you buy a new home, get the car you need, send your children to college and accomplish other goals.
Even some credit card holders are finding that their rates are rising, or their credit limits are being cut and rates are being increased. But again, the Credit Union is a great resource. Our credit cards have low rates, and we can transfer your balances from other cards quickly and easily.
When you’re ready to get started, talk to us about pre-approval. We can set up your financing before you shop for a car or a home, giving you an advantage when you are ready to buy.

A Secure Retirement
|
|
Most of us hope for a financially secure retirement when we can do the things we didn’t have time for while we were working. Unfortunately, Social Security alone may not achieve that goal. That’s why it’s so important to take personal initiative to prepare for the future.
According to the National Council on Aging, only 2% of U.S citizens reaching retirement age are financially independent. Estimates indicate that only a small percentage of baby boomers—those ages 42-60 will have achieved financial independence at retirement.
The Credit Union’s Wealth Solutions Group, through the broker/dealer services of Financial Network, will work with individuals who are concerned about their retirement. Financial services include:
- Stocks and bonds
- Retirement
- Mutual funds
- Estate distribution
- College savings plan
- Annuities
- Insurance
- Asset allocation
