Asian Tsunami Relief
February 1, 2005 Newsrelease Donated funds are being put to work in many ways providing for the most basic needs – medicine, shelter kits, health kits, baby kits, and cooking utensils. Grief and trauma counseling is also being provided to survivors. MAF has already positioned aircrafts in a region of Indonesia where more than 40 tons of supplies await distribution. “Thanks to the support of our members participating in the program, CCCU was able to contribute to the tsunami relief efforts,” says John Walling, President/CEO of CCCU. “I, along with the board of directors at CCCU, was exceptionally proud of CCCU employees when we heard of their personal efforts to contribute additional funds to aid the relief efforts in south Asia. We have been, and will continue to keep every individual affected by the tsunami in our prayers as the road to recovery for so many begins,” Walling added. CCCU was able to donate the funds through the “Cards that Give to Missions & Ministries” program. In 2004, the Credit Union gave $200,000 which was distributed to missionaries, local and regional church projects, new church planting, Christian camping, student scholarships and more. CCCU has donated over $1.5 million since the program began in 1994. CCCU has more than 27,000 members worldwide comprised of individuals, churches and ministry groups and has been serving the financial needs of the Christian community for over 47 years. |
